Choosing the perfect location for your engagement photos is such a huge part of the storytelling process. Every location has its own personality, and the backdrop you choose can completely change the feel of your gallery.
One of the things I love most about photographing couples in Tampa Bay is just how much variety we have. Within an hour’s drive, you can choose between white sand beaches, sprawling nature preserves, historic architecture, colorful city streets, or even elegant museums. Whether you’re envisioning something romantic and coastal, timeless and editorial, or adventurous and outdoorsy, there’s truly a location for every couple.
As a local photographer, here is my curated personal favorites list of the best engagement photo locations in Tampa Bay
Fort De Soto Park
Fort De Soto is one of the most versatile engagement photo locations in the Tampa Bay area because it offers so much more than just the beach.
Within one park, you’ll find white sand beaches, tall sea grass, fishing piers, nature trails, palm trees, and even historic stone ruins. That variety allows us to create an entire gallery with multiple different looks without ever leaving the park.
It’s perfect for couples who want an adventurous session and don’t mind exploring a little.
Best for: Beach lovers, adventurous couples, and anyone wanting lots of variety in one location.

Pass-a-Grille Beach
If I had to choose one location that perfectly represents the Florida coast, it would be Pass-a-Grille Beach.
The wide stretches of white sand, sea oats, and friendly atmosphere create the dreamiest backdrop for relaxed, romantic photos. Unlike some of the busier beaches around Tampa Bay, Pass-a-Grille can often be relatively quiet, giving us more room to run around! However, it is important to consult with your photographer to figure out what time is most ideal to avoid those large crowds – they will know best!
This location is perfect for couples who love walks on the beach, vibrant sunsets, and a laid-back coastal vibe.
Best time to visit: Golden hour, about an hour before sunset.

Sawgrass Lake Park
If you’re drawn to nature and want your engagement photos to feel peaceful and almost storybook-like, Sawgrass Lake Park is one of my favorite hidden gems.
The elevated boardwalk winds through giant cypress trees, vibrant greenery, and ponds covered in lily pads. The filtered light that shines through the trees creates a cinematic, romantic atmosphere that feels completely different from anywhere else in Tampa Bay.
This location is especially beautiful for couples who love the outdoors or want something a little less traditional than the beach.
Best time to visit: Early morning or late afternoon for the prettiest light.

The Ringling Museum
For couples dreaming of something timeless, elegant, and inspired by European architecture, it’s hard to beat The Ringling.
The grand staircases, marble archways, beautiful gardens, and stunning courtyard create an editorial backdrop that feels like you teleported across the globe. Every corner looks like it belongs in a movie, making it perfect for couples who love classic architecture and sophisticated imagery.
The Ringling is especially beautiful if you’re planning a formal engagement session or simply want photos that feel more elevated and artistic.
Keep in mind: The Ringling requires a $300 photography permit, so it’s important to plan ahead before your session.

Upham Beach
Upham Beach offers everything people love about Florida beaches, but with a little something extra.
The natural rock jetties add texture and depth to your photos, making the scenery feel a little more dramatic while still keeping a relaxed coastal feel. Between the sand, waves, and rock formations, there are have endless opportunities for movement and variety throughout your session.
If you love the beach but want something that feels a little different than the classic Florida shoreline, Upham Beach is always a great choice.

Tampa Theatre
For couples who love vintage charm, old movies, or downtown date nights, Tampa Theatre is so fun and unique – it has quickly become one of my favorite engagement photo locations in Tampa Bay
The historic marquee, lights, and gorgeous brick architecture create the perfect backdrop for a more editorial, city-inspired session. I especially love photographing here in the evening when the lights begin to come on!
One of my favorite things about Tampa Theatre is pairing it with a walk through nearby downtown streets. It creates a gallery that feels super cinematic and story-driven!
This location is perfect for couples looking for something classic, cinematic, and a little different from the typical Florida beach session.

Celery Fields
Although it is technically located in Sarasota, Celery Fields is absolutely worth the drive.
The rolling green hills are unlike almost anything else you’ll find in the Tampa Bay area. During golden hour, the grasses take on a glowy orange, creating a warm, cinematic backdrop like the countryside.
If you’re looking for an open landscape and a location that feels adventurous, Celery Fields is one of my favorite recommendations.
